The Benefits of Green Juicing and Why + How I Started

I stumbled on juicing through my quest for leadership and growth. I became a steady reader of Prolific Living, a blog dedicated to work and lifestyle design. Farnoosh was a lover of travel, yoga and green-juicing. Very well rounded and someone that I immediately trusted to keep me focused on my career, life and work journey.

Why + How I started Green Juicing

The bigger reason why I started green juicing was my inability to stay focused on my health journey. I was going to the gym regularly but I still felt tired, irritated and unhappy afterwards. I was working mostly on my outer appearance and not from the inside out. Green juicing was the only way for me to do something from the inside and translate it outwards.

After reading Farnoosh’s ebook on green juicing, I told myself this was an impossible journey. Coming from someone who never buys anything green nor eat salads, this was an impossible feat. But, like I said, I trusted Farnoosh so much that  I saved up $300 for an Omega J8006. I decided to buy this juicer based on her recommendation and other raving reviews I had read on Amazon. I also knew that buying this juicer finally meant I have to juice, and juice I did! My first week was great. I started with the 5-day juice fast and ended it abruptly due to orders from my doctor ( I was taking antibiotics at the time. The lesson here is, please consult with your physician before green juicing). I did not stop green juicing at all, I just did not do the fast. Instead, I substituted my breakfast for a sumptuous green juice. Farnoosh has some really juicy recipes in her e-book, I encourage you to get a copy if you can.

Quick Benefits of Green Juicing

These benefits are based on what I have experienced! True Story

Natural Cleanser – I love to eat, and most of my meals are traditional Nigerian dishes that are heavy on the oil and seasoning side. I do use olive oil but sometimes, I do a little frying. In order to properly get rid of fat in my system especially whenever I fell bloated, I resort to green juicing. It’s the most efficient way to get rid of fat in your body.

Natural Energy Source – Before juicing, I was addicted to coffee! I would drink coffee every other hour at home and at work. Now that i green juice every morning before work, I feel so much clarity, and boost every morning….somehow I stopped drinking coffee and now I feel so refreshed every hour of the day. I substituted coffee with loose oolong tea as prescribed by Farnoosh and I love it!

Multi-Nutrient Component – Beets, Celery, Cucumber, Parsley, Radishes, Carrots all come with natural forms of vitamins that eliminates the need for overdose of vitamins for me. It’s best to consume vitamins in their natural form to ensure that they are properly absorbed into the body.

Weight Loss – I did not start green juicing to lose weight, however I introduced a good friend of mine and she has since inches on her waist-line, dropped a few pounds the very first week!

This is great and love how colorful they are. I’ve been juicing on and off for quite some time and can tell you it’s amazing. I’m still on my start up juicer, but the one you got is awesome!

I highly recommend Omega J8006 if you can save up for it. I believe you get a lifetime warranty, so you really get to keep it for life. I slacked for a few days and could tell by my bloated abdominal area that I needed to get back on it. Hope you can get going steadily to fully reap the benefits. And even with a startup juicer, im sure you will get all the nutrients you need. Thanks for reading :)

I am researching juicing after watching the documentary “Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead”. Thanks for your perspective!

I have not watched that documentary, I ran across it on my HuluPlus, thanks for suggesting it. I think greenjuicing is an healthy choice as long as its done safely. It’s also a natural process which minimizes side effects and produces tremendous benefits.

“Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead” is a very good documentary. It’s informational and entertaining. I highly recommend it.
I’ve been juicing a few years now and really enjoy it. Your article is fabulous. Thanks!

Thanks Rich, I have heard so much about that documentary and as soon as I can find the time, I will watch it. How long have you been juicing and what benefits have you seen?
